Arouca vs Benfica Game Review - Betting Tip

There are fewer concerns about Benfica and their potential to successfully defend their Portuguese Primeira Liga title after they battled past Estoril and then cashed in late, eventually winning 4-0. Arouca also got their season off to a positive start, but can they stop the defending champions? Read our game preview and betting tips here.

Goals Over 2.5

Benfica to win 2-1

Arouca just about escaped relegation from Portuguese Primeira Liga last season. They scored just 26 goals in 34 games last season and their defence wasn't much better. They got their 2015-16 campaign off to a positive start with a 2-0 away win over Moreirense.

Nuno Coelho and Maurides scored goals in a second half that Arouca controlled. A few of the squad's younger players have matured and Arouca should be able to win enough games to survive another season in the Primeira Liga. Over the last two seasons, Arouca has lost all four games against Benfica, with the combined scoreline sitting at 13-1.

Benfica's victory over Estoril shouldn't be overblown. It finished up as an impressive 4-0 result, but it took until the 75th minute for Benfica to break the deadlock and their opponents could have easily scored goals either side of halftime.

Manager Rui Vitoria will be pleased with the attacking displayed by his side. The defending champions have lost a couple of players from the squad that won two straight Primeria Liga's, but young players like Semedo, Andrade, Guedes and Talisca should provide Benfica fans with plenty of optimism.

There's two elements to our betting tips for this contest. We cannot see Arouca picking up a first win, or even a first point against Benfica in league play. However, an improved club will surely test out Benifca's youth. We're not willing to summarily dismiss poor preseason form and some apparent struggles in cohesion amongst the squad.

This game will involve a few goals, but Benfica will find a way to score one more goal. The best odds are on the Goals Over 2.5 line.

Football News:- 17th August, 2015
ARSENE WENGER hailed a superb display from Mesut Ozil in Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, but has urged the German to score more goals. Olivier Giroud's stunning volley and a Damien Delaney own goal ensured Arsenal bounced back from their opening-day defeat to West Ham and registered their first three points of the campaign.
Giroud's strike was the most eye-catching moment in the match, but Wenger has hailed playmaker Ozil as the stand-out player at Selhurst Park.
However, the French tactician admits he'd like to see more goals from the 26-year-old this season, with just 12 strikes to his name since joining two years ago.
"It is a pleasure to watch the quality of his passing and the intelligence of his passing," Wenger said.
"What I want from him is a few more goals this season.
"For the rest of the build-up in the game he was magnificent.
"He works harder than people think he does. He is not spectacular in his defending but he wants to do the job, he wants to help the team.
"What I liked in his game today was he made many runs without the ball behind the defenders which is a bit new as he likes to come with the ball but today he mixed up his game better."

JOSE MOURINHO admits the decision to take John Terry off at half-time during the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City was tactical. The Blues boss replaced his captain with 20-year-old Kurt Zouma, with Chelsea 1-0 down at the time after Sergio Aguero's opener.
Mourinho wanted to add pace to his back-line and believes his decision was justified, despite going on to concede another two goals at the Etihad.
"It was a decision. Zouma is the fastest defender we have in the squad," Mourinho said.
"I know Man City are going to play counter attack and Zouma is a different player to John and I was proven right because Zouma was in complete control.
"John is a player I have total trust for, with me he was never substituted, with other managers he was not selected and people thought his Chelsea career was over.
"If a manager has the right, I do, because I gave the chance to make him what he is, a fantastic player and a fantastic captain.
"One point from six is better than zero and worse than two.
"I am okay in mathematics, multiply 36 by three and I know how much it gives, I know the championship is more than mathematically open."

The Amsterdam club have already suffered a crushing blow to their season by losing in midweek at home to Rapid Vienna to exit the Champions League in the qualifying rounds. To the surprise of many Frank de Boer is still in charge of the club that he led to 4 successive titles prior to last season’s 2nd place.

There has been a few summer comings and goings with promising forward Ricardo Kishna joining Lazio while Icelandic striker Kolbein Sigborsson left for Nantes. Coming in Mitchel Dijks has joined from Willem II and Arkadiusz Milik has made his loan move permanent after the Pole netted 11 times in 14 starts for Ajax last season. The arrival of Yaya Sanogo on loan from Arsenal should also aid their goal threat but their biggest money signing was the €6million capture of Nemanja Gudelj from AZ. The Serbian midfielder is almost certain to make his league debut for Ajax against his former club on Sunday.

Both Milik and Gudelj were on target in the 3-2 defeat to Rapid Vienna on Tuesday so the early signs look good going forward for this newlook Ajax side but the defensive problems that plagued them at times last season still appear to be present.

AZ had a good season last time out finishing just one place below Ajax in 3rd place. They were also involved in Europe in midweek and have had a long trip back to Istanbul to contend with as they prepare for this game.

If pre-season is anything to go by then they could be a major threat to the likes of Ajax and last year’s winners PSV this season. They have won all their friendly matches and won their final 4 Eredivisie fixtures last season so John van den Brom and his side will have every reason to approach this game with confidence.

There have been some major departures this summer though. As well as Gudelj, Steven Berghuis has joined Premier League Watford and USA international Aron Johannsson has moved to Werder Bremen. Van den Brom has signed two players this week though with left-back Rajko Brezancic and Iranian forward Alireza Jahanbakhsh joining from NEC Nijmegen. The 21 year old scored 12 Eredivisie goals last season and could be thrown straight into the starting line-up this weekend.

There will be an element of uncertainty in both camps ahead of the opening day. Ajax won here 3-1 last August but lost the return fixture in Amsterdam. Both sides like to attack and can be a little shaky at the back against the better sides so goals are likely to be the order of the day here. Backing there to be 3 or more goals at 1.90 in Sportpesa looks to be worth a bet here.

OFFICIAL: Leicester sign Kante

Leicester City have signed NGolo Kante from Caen for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old, who has signed a four-year deal, becomes the clubs fourth summer signing, following Christian Fuchs, Robert Huth and Shinji Okazaki and first since Claudio Ranieris appointment.

Kante made 37 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, scoring two goals, as Caen finished 13th, nine points above the relegation zone following promotion the previous summer.

The midfielder has been handed the No.14 shirt and will be available to make his debut in the Premier League opener against Sunderland on Saturday.

Fiorentina warn Roma: Salah is ours

Fiorentina co-owner Andrea Della Valle has warned rivals Roma that Mohamed Salah is contracted to the Florence club.

The contractual ownership of the Egyptian forward has become a complicated matter this summer, with the Viola embroiled in a bitter battle with the player and his agent.

Fiorentina are looking to secure Salah on a permanent basis after last seasons impressive loan from Chelsea, but he refused to turn up to training and his agent said he would not be returning to the Artemio Franchi.

Della Valle had already claimed that lawyers will solve the debate about who owns Salahs rights following confirmation from the Serie A side that they would be suing the 24-year-old for breach of contract.

Jose Mourinho has stated theres no way Salah is staying at Stamford Bridge and Roma have emerged as the frontrunners to sign him, though Della Valle was keen to stress hes still a Fiorentina player.

We have a contract in our possession that we will exercise, the Fiorentina chief told Corriere dello Sport when asked about Salah joining another club. The player was persuaded into agreeing to this action by his agent.

Della Valle also commented on the lack of transfer arrivals this summer for Paulo Sousas men, who defeated Barcelona 2-1 on Sunday thanks to early efforts from Federico Bernardeschi.

Soon all the scepticism will go away, he added. I am convinced this new era with Sousa after sacking Vincenzo Montella will be a success. The transfer window runs until August 31, theres time.

I ask fans to continue to believe in me. When you swap coaches, its normal to have a few weeks of adaptation. All around us are teams awash with money, too.

Referencing Bee Taechaubols purchase of 48 per cent of AC Milan, Della Valle added: The big teams have all strengthened and Im happy for Silvio Berlusconi as itll be a lot easier for Milan to navigate the market with an extra €400 million.
